Aboriginal Student Entrance Award

Amount Awarded: $2,500


The SFU Aboriginal Student Entrance Award is offered to Canadian Aboriginal students entering Simon Fraser University from a Canadian secondary school or a college / university program in British Columbia. The applicant will have demonstrated their participation in the Aboriginal community through services and / or a cultural contribution.

To be eligible, regular applicants for secondary education must have marks of around 80% for the faculty to which they applied (not rounded up), candidates for the IB diploma must have the diploma score from the IB required for admission, and college / university applicants must have a GPA transfer of 2.5 (not rounded up).

Entrance Award and Bursary Applicants coming from a BC/Yukon regular secondary school must self-report their grades by the deadline date.

Application Instructions:

The request must be submitted online and supporting documents must be sent by email before the deadline at 11.59 p.m. PST.

Supporting Documentation:

  • Community referral form completed and emailed by a community leader who can talk about your involvement
  • Documentation of your Aboriginal heritage: photocopy or Scan of your Indian or Métis map (front and back)
