While many programs are primarily aimed at recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, the Horatio Alger Association is looking for students who have shown determination, integrity and persistence in overcoming adversity, as well as their financial needs. criticism.

2020 Horatio Alger Undergraduate Scholarship

(Application open to high school students in Louisiana, Montana and the country for students interested in a certain number of colleges / universities)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be registered full time as a high school student in the United States; progressing normally towards graduation in spring / summer 2020 with plans to enter college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation
  • Demonstrate a firm commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree in a public or private accredited non-profit institution in the United States (students may begin their studies in a two-year institution and then be transferred to a four-year institution years)

2020 Horatio Alger Targeted Scholarships

  • Demonstrate a firm commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree

Denny Sanford Scholarship – National University

The Denny Sanford Scholarship Program was created in 2018 and is funded by Association member T. Denny Sanford, owner and founder of First Premier Bank.

2020 Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship

1020 scholarships at up to $2,500 each

The career and technical scholarship program is financed by the Horatio Alger endowment fund and the generosity of the president emeritus of the association and the president of the Walter Scott, Jr. endowment fund career or technical training in an accredited post-secondary institution nonprofit in the United States.

Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

  • Completed high school (or obtained a high school equivalency diploma)
  • Will be enrolled in an eligible program in fall 2020
  • Demonstrate a firm commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States
